My Worst Moments in Gaming

I have a lot of moments that I hated while playing a game I liked. These are personal and physical stories, but aren't going to be rants on games the people hated or even I hated. Hello Wandering Traveler and welcome to these small stories that happened to me in gaming.

A lot of people have freezing problems, but back in the day of low poly graphics, it was a fear to common to face. Well, everyone had it very differently, especially on the PS2. My friend had her PS2 crash every time she played more than 2 hours. That's very short when you look it. My cousin's froze every time he saved more than 4 times. Me? Well, I had it worse. My PS2 was a used gift from my uncle saying he didn't use it much. What he didn't know was that he generated awful load times and froze every time the logo popped in too fast! It wasn't his fault he didn't know it happened.

When I played Shadow of the Colossus when I was little, I had the best experience with it: the Colossi, the landscape, an the story stuck to me like a desperate girlfriend wanting a hug. One time, I loaded it up and it took about an hour to actually get the it started. I start to play and as the game went to a cutscene to show of the new Colossus, it froze in mid-frame of the reveal. The made this rowing sound that would just freak you out if you heard it and since we had the game on a powerful stereo, the sound was shouted at us, peircing ours ears. We had to turn it off and back on again (The classic way to fix your game), but that was to reveal something bad. The game's files were erased and everything else with it. About 3 days of progress gone along with 2 years of gameplay wasted. And in that moment, my dad and I hated Shadow of the Colossus for that reason. Now, we come to love it since we got to finish it on our PS4, but back then, we switch to Xbox because of that.

GameStop employees are awesome, they like their job and like to interact with their costumers in like as if they were friends, give some reasonable discounts just because they like the game you're buying, dress up for a big release on pre-order night, and even tell a good review on the game you're buying. It's hard to find someone with a bad attitude from where I live, but there is one point that I met the rare d*uchebag employee that hated on you just because they saw you.

This wasn't too long ago, maybe a year ago or a few months ago, I don't know. The guy was an old man with a thick Commissioner Gordon mustache that hated games for some reason. He never said it, but I could see it his eyes when he looked at the people browsing the games. One day, it was just me and my friend which is currently in over 17 to buy a rated M game that went to go buy a few games for my friend's younger brother. I think it was Dying Light or something? I think it was Advanced Warfare... I don't know, it was a game. When I found the game, I went to the counter and said "I'll  be buying this, please!" and he pulled down his huge glasses and looked at me. He said "You don't look 17 and up," It said it like he read the rating labels hundreds of time to know who can buy these.

I tried to tell him that my friend is buy it for me, but he kept saying I'm not suppose to buy the game. He started to get red faced and looked like he was going to explode. I tried to calm him down by saying "Wow, man! You're getting angry over nothing. I'm not buying it, my friend is," but he shouted "Don't you interrupt me, you little ***!"

My friend steps in and tells him to calm down and let me speak. Instead of cooperating, he just ran in the back of the store as the other employees were trying to apologize for what happened and gave us a discount on the game we were buying. My friend gives the game to me and tells me to wrap it. As soon as I get into the car, my dad tells me "I just got an email saying you're banned for a week... Care to explain?" I was surprised to hear that since he hardly did anything wrong. I asked my dad "What for? Does it say?" He tells me for harassing staff and attempt of theft. I thought they told you personally as a sign of offense, but somehow the old man banned me.

I talked to the manager of the store and we had a polite talk about lifting the ban. He told me he had this happen many times before this and had to let him go. My ban was lifted and was given a small sorry gift from him, which was a code for a month of gold membership. And this was all for a rated game...

Another worst moment was a while back. I had Dark Souls 2 on the 360 and found out how to play online with that game. I had slow internet at the time, but it was enough to play online without too much lag (This is important to the plot!). I had some trouble with a boss in Dark Souls and asked for some help on Twitter. Only one person said they would help. I gave him my server code and found him near the boss. He came with the Praise the Sun gesture and I greeted him with the same gesture. I went through the fog and began the first blow on the boss while my partner agro'd him.

We were almost there to beating him and this was such a moment for me. He was the boss that kept me for 5 days straight that felt like years! I was about to land the final blow as I see my partner stand there. My blow didn't land a hit on him, the sword only phase through him. Then, the boss just stood there as well as he faced my partner. The next thing I notice is the caption on the top screen saying "Server Disconnected" and had me go to the Main Menu! I was glad I was alone at home because I screamed and cried for almost a full half-hour. If you haven't played Dark Souls, you don't how it feels to lose in that game.

Well, those are my stories! What happened to you that was the worst in gaming? You can tell me, but as usual...
