Black Ops, the game that got too much attention and became a leech for every CoD player! Although, considered the best CoD on the market without hackers and a trash community to ruin it, this game still has some things wrong with it. Hello and welcome to another late though blog!
Now, before we get to the core of the game, we should talk about the campaign everyone seems to enjoy. I hope you saw that as sarcasm. Anyways, the game starts off with something rare in this yearly series. You actually die within the few minutes you play the campaign. Yes, if you played the multiplayer first, the game is hard to adjust to. There isn't a boost when you start and the weapons can be a bit lacking. When you start, the game is actually interesting. Although, no superhuman powers, it was actually fun to unravel the campaign. The story can feel slow and the in-game cinematics can be missed if you're not paying attention, but it is interesting to watch it unravel. Once, you fail to survive a wave of merciless robots, you die! Yay! The damn thing that kills you rips you arm and legs off and breaks your only good (and attached) arm, beating you to a lifeless pulp. And right there, the game's interesting story dies.
The game tries to make itself more interesting, but fails to accomplish that. The dialogue is cliche and the game's narrative drops to a terrible terrorist stopping story. Ever since Modern Warfare, they have been trying to accomplish another Makarov, but fail so hard! The campaign slowly turns into a Multiplayer with bots as your progress and the story becomes more and more boring. The characters aren't great or memorable, the villains don't have a purpose and the dialogue just makes you want to stop playing as soon as they start speaking. It's just terrible and so hard to complete the campaign.
Along with that, there is the redeeming bonuses. The Zombie campaign can be interesting, but that's just Zombies put into the Campaign maps. Nothing being changed, the only rare and good thing about the mode is the prologue. Then there is the Dead Ops Arcade mode where it takes the classic Rail Shooter and puts it in a funny, cliche, arcade style mode. It is actually fun and is great while playing with friends. The only bad thing I can say about this mode is when you play locally. The Splitscreen has some major problems with it where the crosshairs are moved too much to the right to fit the splitscreen and the frame rate drops once you have over 3 players playing locally. I am actually surprised they haven't fixed it, but I guess the game is mostly an online thing, so who cares.
On to the Zombies mode, they are actually fun. Of course they are, and I'm glad they haven't changed anything to make the mode different from the others, like what certain game did. Anyways, the map when you first play the game is actually kind of fun. The map was well designed and is actually like a massive maze that all the other maps try to do. As for the only stand alone map, Giant, is actually pretty small. It's fun and a good nostalgia item to have, but it's too small. You can explore the entire map within the first 8 rounds you play and open the Pack-A-Punch and the Mystery Box within the first five.
Some players even play the entire game in one place since the map is so small. You know where the power is? Well, go there and don't progress. You go up to 50 rounds before you need to Pack-A-Punch something. As for the other maps in this game, they are a bit too expensive. "Are you going to hate on the price of the map the developers need to earn something from their masterpiece?" Actually, this game is no masterpiece. The maps are actually in one bundle with other useless maps your probably don't want. Each one being about 30 bucks and can you guess how many there are? There are about 4 right now and they haven't made a Zombie bundle yet. I mean, they will soon with completely different maps, but still! The only cheap way to buy those maps is with the Season Pass, the one thing that people hate in games. I was actually surprised they didn't do the two season pass thing that other have done. I bet the other maps are fun, but I just don't have the money to buy all maps or get the $50 season pass. "You cheap little f*ck! You have the money, but too lazy to get it!" No, I have other things to spend my money on that are more important than these useless things.
To move on, the Multiplayer is the only thing that is keeping the game alive. I know that sounds like an insult, but if you look at it, the game is pretty bad without the two modes for it to offer. The only thing that I hate about multiplayer is the people playing. “You just hate’em because you suck! Git Gud!” Yeah, I am pretty good in multiplayer games, not that good to be in ESports, but I’m pretty decent. It’s just, you can clearly see some people playing unfairly. What is considered unfair? Well, camping with three turrets protecting you and shooting anything that moves with an instant kill shotgun. There is some rifles that can get instant kills, but those take some challenge. You need to count on luck and aim with that kind of gun. Shotguns are the equivalent of the rifles, but you don’t need to aim. Just hope (and it most likely would) that the spread hits them. I like playing modes like Free-For-All and Domination, so seeing people play the game so poorly is kind of bad.
“You could play Hardcore instead of the standard Core modes, StarterPack. You can find better players there.” I don’t know, I’m a bit afraid to do that. I know it’s just a mode selection, but I don’t wanna be looked down upon by the better players. And what makes me laugh is how some hardcore players go on to the Core modes just to troll newer players, but the mixture of trash and perfection just creates this balance of fair play. You wouldn’t think that at first, but I guess the people who play in those modes just don’t care if they get the highest kill streak. I like that, a chill list of players where you can beat even the best players in the game without getting dissed.
“What’s your loadout, StarterPack.” Starter SMG and a Rocket Launcher with some EMPs to stop my opponents. “Trash!” Yeah, it gets the job done and takes more skill to use that than you think. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this! I hope I didn’t stir up something while writing this blog. It’s just some of my opinions, so don’t take these too seriously. Again, I hope you enjoyed this and ‘til next time…
