I know I did an everything wrong review with this game, but since the latest update, I have a few opinions that need to be said. There has been some things that needed to be fixed and the developers missed a lot on this update. Hello and welcome to this thought blog.
This is the first update in the game since launch and it has some improvements in the display, but barely anything else. There is two new maps in the game and a new mode, but the maps are both for the new mode, Live Fire. Although it's a fun mode, I still think there should be something new to the base modes. I'm kind of tired of some of the maps, although some of them are great, I still want to see something new.
"But StarterPack, the promised two maps and they delivered, stop hating the game!" I know, but I don't hate the game, I clocked in a lot of time in this game and I appreciate what Respawn has to deliver, but I still think they should give us something new in the traditional modes.
Besides that, the developers did nothing else with the update. No patches, not fixes, no problems removed. Well, lack there of, but there are some problems I think need fixing. Titans are the main ability in the game and I think are better than being the pilot in the game, but when face to face with another titan, you have a few abilities up you sleeve. Ion has the trip wire, Scorch has the firewall, Tone has the rockets, etc., but the most OP titan class has to be Ronin. "That's the best class! Are you going to crap on him too?" Well, yes. I think he should have a minor debuff. Almost every player uses the sword instead of the gun and mostly every other titan has nothing to count that. You can try the shield, but that doesn't cover melee attacks, you try the shield wall, but they can run right past it. Nothing can counter this titan, but if they face a titan of the same class. At least create a new counter ability that can block a melee attack or something to counter this over powered titan! "C'mon StarterPack, you must have used this titan!" To be honest, that is one of my mains as a titan. I will admit to the shame. They at least take care of the damage input of the melee attack and change the duration of each swing of his sword.
To move on, I should talk about the weakest class, Tone. I know, many of you might disagree, but you look at him, the abilities mainly, he can hardly counter any class. Yes, he can kill a Pilot with one shot from any distance, but to a titan, he's like the laughed at class in battle. Yes, he has a good rifle, but it does barely enough damage to any titan and sometimes call too much attention to themselves. You shoot at a Legion Titan, he looks for the Tone and makes him his primary target. I've seen some aggressive Tone players, but most of the time, they die with seconds or run away. They should at least make the shield like a physical wall like from Halo or at least create some knock pack damage with the rockets. "What about the Northstar, StarterPack?" Well, he's designed to be a runner. You act like a sniper and stay hidden from any titan and deliver you sneaky blow. He is pretty mobile and is well balanced, but anyone who uses this class has the excuse to run away from a battle.
And don't get me started on the Legions. They are like the Heavies of Team Fortress 2, no matter what, you are the primary target for every titan. Most people would think that this would be the beefiest class of the game, but they just are bullet sponges that, with the power of the entire team, get destroyed in the few second of the poor, robotic soul's life time. I just think they should put some protection for the Ogre if the entire team is going to track him down and make sure him and his family go to hell. I know he's suppose to be able to distract the titans to bring an advantage on his friendlies, but at least live up to it and live longer!
Along with the Titans, I think the player should be able to switch abilities. Not like mix and match the class, I mean make class specific abilities to turn the tide of battle. Make the Tone have a massive mini-nuke to damage multiple titans and bring down some of the powerful ones, and of course, give a long wait for the next use. Give the Ion a wave beam that can destroy any projectile if pressed at the right moment and can track the person who shot it at you. And why not give a particle shield to Legions to protect against massive damage, but it has a very limited life, but takes a punch.
To move on, I'd like to talk weapons and pilot classes. Everyone of the community has a favorite weapon and the one I like the most is the L-Star. If you use the weapon in the campaign, it is a monster. It can destroy the strongest enemies and serves the best damage if used on a Titan. If you try using the weapon in the Multiplayer, you get that first impression and throw it out the window. It is a weak weapon and only those with the most skill can use it! I think they should bring up the damage, make it easier to overheat the weapon and leave the cool down alone, don't wanna make it too powerful. I think the weapon should be one of the tops and lives up to the impression given in the campaign. I know many will disagree, but it's just a thought.
The other weapons are well balanced along with some of the classes. I think the sniper rifles should be a bit downgraded, just to give the player a warning instead of an unexpected death. I don't know, but that feels fair to me. The one class I want to talk about is the Tracker. Although it's good in some situations, but not many. Yes, the made use of it in Live Fire, but that seems to be the only purpose for the class. You can try to help the team to see where everyone is, but it's a lucky guess most of the time. It can be useful if someone runs into it, but you either won't be there to get him or you died before you can get the bait. Plus, the downside is that it alerts everyone of your presence. Not highlighting you to the enemy, but it mostly tell them you're near by. The enemy team might runaway from it, but most people don't do that so they can pick a fight. I think they should have the ability to be able to track without it yelling it at the players.
The new mode selection screen is better than before. It was a confusing mess with original set. The modes were in a mess, and the match search use to be so slow. It use to take a while to wait for another game, but now it's faster. And the Mixtape modes were a bit dumb. I'm glad they allowed the player to create his own mixtape with a majority of modes to choose from. The one thing I'm surprised they didn't do was allowing you to choose a map. I like certain maps and I want to play more on those, but I can't. I hope they change that in the future, because I'm getting tired of Eden and Exoplanet. Anyways, I hope you agree with me and if not, tell me what you think and 'til next time...
